Tommy Fitchet

Born in Dundee in 1969, Tommy is largely self taught but also studied art in Glasgow.

Tommy’s art is predominantly abstract inspired by nature, by the Scottish landscape and by the changing light of the seasons, especially the many and varied landscapes around the Isle of Arran.

Since childhood Tommy has found art and especially abstract art, the most natural way to reflect his surroundings and express his emotions.

Tommy’s work involves the use of many mediums but he has found that his art is most fluid and expressive when working directly onto glass. His present range invokes the colours and moods of Autumn and Winter on the island.

Tommy’s paintings are now in both private collections nationwide and internationally. Many of his paintings are in the United States and he has collectors as far a field as Australia.

Tommy’s perception ...

My work is based on the essence of a feeling of a particular moment that I have encountered on Arran, to do with the countryside and landscape of Arran, whether it be the shorelines or the rugged landscape. When the sun suddenly comes out and shines brightly upon the sea or the landscape just for that brief moment, and you get that wonderful feeling that stays with you, that is what I am trying to capture in my paintings.
