Thomas J. Henry

Tom studied at Edinburgh College of Art from 1979-1983 and under Sir Robin Phillipson. He then went on to gain teaching qualifications at St Andrews College of Education.

He entered teaching in 1984 and has taught Art in schools all over Scotland.

Finally deciding to become a professional artist in the summer of 2004, although still wishing to be involved in some sort of capacity with teaching art to children.

"I work principally, though not exclusively, in oils and acrylics an I enjoy painting both portraits and landscapes, as they require different talents. The sea scenes come from experiences gained in my time at sea, but I am also working on more figurative work in a broader range of colours.

I am always wary of the deep meaningful interpretation of artwork and prefer to see my work for what it is, something that I enjoy doing and that hopefully others will enjoy too."
