James Spence

Winner of the National Bockingford Competition and the following awards: BBC Royal Physicians and Surgeons, William Bowie, and the Scottish Amicable Society.

James was Co-founder of the Glasgow Group in 1957, and remained President until 1990. He paints the drama of West Coast skies, generally in water-colour, often on a large scale. More recently he has turned to oils of Scottish landscapes.
